Woahhh we are kindred souls XD. In early primary school we had a speech competition and I was UNfortunate enough to make it through to the finals, and in my speech I crap on about how I hate people calling me 'fifi' because "it sounds like a French poodle." Yes, that was my childhood wit back then LOL. (So hamster...poodle...still of the fluffly animal variety :P) Anyways after that, half my grade (this is no joke) kept coming up to me and calling me Fifi to tease me and recite that one line over and over again. It was pure torture. So you can understand why I have my reservations about that nickname now LOL!
I've had stranger nicknames as well..my best friend started her mother calling me "Fi Fy Fo Fum".... And I recall in year 6 my friends and I coming up with the name 'Fiodour' LOL...I didn't have hygiene issues!!!! It was just child wit!!!!! lol
